Aghavni-Zabel Binemeciyan's maiden name was Çilingiryan. Before establishing her own theatre company she worked at several different companies including Güllu Agop, Serovpe Benliyan and Mardios Minakyan. While she was working with Minakyan she met Rupen Binemeciyan and married him. Binemeciyan founded his own theatre company but died the same year.

Aghavni-Zabel Binemeciyan kept the theatre running with Kınar Sıvacıyan and Sirapyon Hekimyan under the name: the New Ottoman Theatre (Yeni Osmanlı Tiyatrosu). At the same theatre, Muhsin Ertuğrul and Behzat Butak were in charge of the stage set.

The New Ottoman Theare remained open until Aghavni-Zabel Binemeciyan's death in 1915.
