Realizing the future we want
Duru Barbak
We can have the future we want only if we demand it ourselves.
Duru Barbak, climate activist, Istanbul, 17 years
I dream of a world where people value nature and all creatures in nature. I dream of a world where industrial agriculture does not pollute the land, a world where healthy food is available to everyone. I dream of a world where there is not more plastic in the oceans than fish and the air does not make people ill. I imagine a world where fossil fuels remain underground, where the profit of a handful of people i not more important than the well-being of the whole world.
We can have the future we want only if we demand it ourselves. And we must make this future reality. In order to save the future of the next generations, no one will give up their interests voluntarily. We, the young generations, must make sure that no one has any choice other than protecting the future of our planet.
It is for us to initiate change. Change begins with us. Everything starts with loving and protecting nature...
