The 17 Goals of the United Nations Member States for a Sustainable Development
What does sustainable economic growth and decent working conditions have to do with me?
-
Despite their increasing presence in public life, women continue to do 2.6 times more unpaid work than men. This rate is valid worldwide.
-
Worldwide 63% of the women's work in paid jobs, for men the number is 94%. In Turkey, these rates are 34.5% for women, and 71.8% for men (2019).
-
The global gender pay gap presently is 23 per cent globally and without decisive action, it will take another 68 years to reach equal pay.
Think also of child labour, unjust working conditions and working conditions harmful to health.
Sustainable economic development combines social, ecological and economic development. Economic growth is generally linked to a negative ecological balance, to the plundering of natural resources and to unsafe working conditions. Sustainable economic growth will require societies to create conditions allowing people to have quality jobs. Take action!
